Harrington Associates, LLC Consulting Services

Harrington Associates provides consulting services to clients. These programs range from standard business reviews to programs custom designed to meet our client’s individual needs. In working with our clients, we draw on our experience in the magazine and book publishing industry, other distribution businesses, news gathering capabilities, a network of contacts, and a research data base of industry performance, extending back as far as the 1970s.

John Harrington is a partner in Harrington Associates, LLC, which publishes The New Single Copy newsletter and the annual Magazine Retail Sales Experience series of studies, provides services to the periodical distribution industry, and works with individual wholesalers, publishers, and national distributors. He has conducted workshop and seminar programs for major publishers, national distributors, and wholesalers. He has spoken at meetings of the Magazine Publishers of America, The Periodical and Book Association of America, the Periodical Wholesalers of North America, and the National Association of Wholesaler-Distributors. He has written articles about newsstand distribution for Folio and MIN magazines. He and his work have often been quoted and cited in publications such of The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, The New York Post, Advertising Age, and MediaWeek, as well as numerous retail trade publications. Harrington Associates was founded in July of 1996. For nearly twenty years prior to that, John Harrington worked for the Council for Periodical Distributors Associations, the trade association for periodical wholesalers in the United States and Canada, first as the editor of CPDA News, then as the executive vice president, and he was named the president in 1986.

Eileen Harrington is a specialist in communications and public relations, with recent experience as manager of communications at a non-profit global business development organization. She has also been a newspaper reporter, free-lance writer, public relations consultant, and presentation trainer. Her articles appeared in The New York Times and Reader’s Digest. She was also a regular and award-winning contributor to Brooks Community Newspapers in Fairfield Country, Connecticut. As a presentation trainer with Cahill Associates (Westport, Connecticut), she worked with a number of corporate clients. With degrees from the College of New Rochelle (New York) and Columbia University, she also taught history at the secondary and college levels, and contributed to educational journals and conferences.
